Welcome to Kaivovirta!

For me, wellbeing is not just about momentary relaxation. It is about creating a deeper connection with the body, the mind, and one’s sense of direction in life. At the heart of my work is the belief that genuine recovery happens in moments when the nervous system is allowed to settle and the body can return to balance.

When a person learns to pause and truly listen to themselves, the change does not affect only the individual. It also influences the communities in which they live and act. A thriving community is built by people whose way of meeting themselves and others is reflected throughout their surroundings.

This principle guides my work at Kaivovirta Care & Coaching, where conversation and body-based methods naturally support each other.

Extensive Experience in Supporting People’s Wellbeing

I am a registered nurse by training and have worked for nearly two decades in demanding people-centered roles within child welfare and psychiatry, supporting individuals’ wellbeing and mental health. This work has taught me how essential holistic wellbeing is for both individuals and the communities they are part of.

For many people, conversation is an important way to organise their thoughts and process life situations. At the same time, through my work I have seen that talking alone is not always enough. Bodily experiences, breathing, relaxation, and calming the nervous system can open new ways for people to connect with themselves and their emotions.

For this reason, I have also trained extensively in body-based and nervous system–regulating methods. In my work, conversation-based guidance is combined with somatic approaches that support recovery and help restore balance to the nervous system.

The Philosophy of Kaivovirta Care & Coaching

My work is based on the idea that every person already carries their own inner resources. An external professional does not bring these resources to someone fully formed, but rather helps them to recognise, clarify, and strengthen what is already there.

This principle is reflected, for example, in NADA ear acupuncture, where the treatment is not merely a technical procedure. At its core is the interaction and the space created for a person to relax, listen to themselves, and activate their own resources.

I want my clients to realise that they are active creators of their own lives. While we cannot always influence every circumstance, we can influence how we relate to them and the choices we make.

My role is to support people on that journey.

Kaivovirta – The Idea of a Flow of Wellbeing

For me, Kaivovirta represents the flow of life.

Breath flows, life flows, and a human being is constantly changing. The current moves forward, and the symbol of infinity reminds us of a movement that continues endlessly.

In the pace of modern life, pausing can sometimes even feel unsettling. Yet it is often in these moments of pause that people begin to reconnect with themselves and their own wellbeing.

In my work, I support people in finding their way back to this connection.

Why Calming the Nervous System Matters

Our body and mind are in constant connection with each other. Stress, fear, and overload are reflected in the body through changes in breathing, muscle tension, and heart rate.

The autonomic nervous system often reacts even before we are consciously aware of what is happening. When a person remains in a state of heightened alertness for long periods, conversation alone is not always enough to restore balance.

In the pace of modern life, many people’s nervous systems remain under prolonged strain. For this reason, an essential part of my work is helping people find moments in which the nervous system can rest and recover.

When people learn to recognise their own internal state and influence it, they gain access to resources that support their wellbeing in the long term.

Individual Wellbeing Influences the Whole Community

Human beings do not live in isolation. We are constantly in interaction with one another, and our nervous systems also respond to the emotional states of other people.

This can be clearly seen in the relationship between a child and a parent, but the same phenomenon is present in workplaces and other groups as well. The calm and grounded presence of one person can influence the entire environment.

For this reason, I see supporting an individual’s wellbeing as also contributing to the wellbeing of communities.

When a person reconnects with themselves, the effect naturally extends to the people they live and work with.

Professional Background

I am a registered nurse by training, and supporting people’s wellbeing has been a central part of my work for nearly two decades. Over the years, I have continued to deepen my expertise in various ways, combining conversation-based guidance with body-oriented methods that support recovery and nervous system balance.

My professional training includes:

  • Yoga Nidra Instructor

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapist

Kaivovirta Care & Coaching offers, among other things:

  • Therapeutic coaching

Research-Informed Methods

My work combines practical experience in supporting and guiding people with research-based understanding of the nervous system, stress, and recovery.

Practices such as breathing exercises, mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and Yoga Nidra have been associated in research with, among other things:

  • improved sleep quality

  • reduced stress

  • better regulation of the nervous system

  • improved concentration and recovery

In my work, I draw on methods whose effects have been studied in connection with approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness research.

Intuition and Presence in My Work

My way of working brings together professional expertise, long experience in supporting and meeting people, and a committed practice of presence. For this reason, intuition also plays an important role in my work—the ability to notice and sense things that are not always expressed in words.

Intuition can be understood on three levels: as the body’s instinctive response, as experience-based professional knowledge, and as a deeper understanding that arises from presence.

Instinctive, Body-Based Intuition

Instinctive intuition is the body’s rapid response to the environment. It helps us sense safety, tension, or unease even before conscious thinking begins. The body’s signals can reveal a great deal about situations, people, and the quality of interaction.

Experience-Based Intuition

The second level of intuition develops through experience, education, and professional expertise. When a person works with people over a long period of time, they accumulate tacit knowledge that helps them quickly perceive situations, patterns, and broader contexts. Nearly two decades of working closely with people have helped me develop this kind of professional intuition.

Deeper Understanding Arising from Presence

The third level is connected to presence and genuine connection. When the mind becomes calm and attention returns to the present moment, a deeper understanding of what is happening in the encounter can emerge. I describe this as intuitive presence—a sensitivity to be truly present and to listen not only to words, but also to the silence between them.

I see intuition not as a separate skill, but as something that develops through a sustained practice of presence. When a person is connected to themselves, they are also better able to perceive and understand another person’s experience.

In my work, I aim to create a space where a person can pause for a moment, breathe calmly, and meet themselves. In such an atmosphere, insights often arise that are not born from thinking alone, but also from experience.

My goal is to help people reconnect with their own inner resources and view their situation from a new perspective.
